YSRCP Wins Badwel By-Election By A Huge Margin

The BJP and the Congress candidates both lost their deposits.

The ruling YSR Congress Party registered a landslide victory in the by-election for the Badwel Assembly constituency.

Party candidate Dasari Sudha won by a majority of 90,411 votes.

Sudha polled 1,12,211 of the 1,47,163 votes - a whopping 76.25%.

BJP candidate Panathala Suresh, the runner-up, polled just 21,678 votes, or 14.73%, coming a distant second.

The Congress, long since decimated in the state, polled 6,235 votes, or 4.24%.

It takes 1/6th of the votes for a candidate to not lose his deposit, and thus both the BJP and the Congress candidates lost their deposits.

The TDP did not field a candidate.
