Hyderabad | 16th September 2013
The YSR Congress Party will embark on "Samaikya Rythu Sankharavam" in the Seemandhra districts, to propagate the cause of unified Andhra Pradesh, and the party's honourary president, Y S Vijayamma, will lead the program.
Disclosing this to media persons here on Monday, party senior leader and Central Governing Council Member Ummareddy Venkateswarlu said, "The Samaikya Rythu Sankharavam will only be a continuation of Y S Sharmila's Samaikya Sankharavam Bus Yatra."
"In view of Sharmila's bus yatra coming to a close today, the party has decided to launch Samaikya Rythu Sankharavam in continuation of the program," he said, and added that the details of the program would be disclosed within the next two days.
He said, "Farmers would be the most adversely affected after the bifurcation of the state, as projects in Seemandhra have been built on the availability of Krishna and Godavari surplus waters."
"We may get surplus waters in times of floods or good rains, but there is no guarantee that net waters would be available to farmers of Krishna and Godavari delta in normal times. So this program will involve farmers, who will participate in this program with their tractors," he revealed.
Ummareddy added, "Seemandhra people have sent out a clear message that they want to keep the state united. This message will now get stronger with the Samaikya Rythu Sankharavam."
He said that the YSR Congress party, from the beginning, has been on the forefront in terms of protecting the interests of people through different agitations.
"This program is also in the interests of the people, especially the farming community," he said, and appealed to all Samaikyandhra supporters to participate in it. (INN)
