Continuing her series of Rachchabanda interactions with women in Ranga Reddy district, YSR Congress party leader Sharmila assured women and farmers that they would get interest-free loans when the YSR Congress comes to power under the leadership of its president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
Participating in the Rachchabanda get-together at Ravirala village in Maheswaram Mandalam on Thursday, she assured people that Jagan would keep his promise and grant interest-free loans to women for their economic empowerment after coming to power.
"It is not only women, but farmers, too, who will get interest-free loans, putting a full stop to their financial difficulties," she told them, amid thunderous applause by the big gathering of women.
Sharmila told them that the Kiran Kumar Reddy government has been cheating women and farmers in the name of the "25 paisa interest scheme" ("pavala vaddi"), since they are actually being forced to pay interest ranging from Rs. 1.50 to Rs. 2 on their loans.
Her remarks were in response to a flood of complaints from women that they were paying more than the 25 paise as interest, contrary to what was communicated to them when the loans were sanctioned to them. The entire gathering replied in the negative in unison when she asked people whether they had paid more interest than proposed at any point of time during YSR's regime. (INN)
