One auto-rickshaw driver was killed and several others injured, when they were hit by an RTC bus after the bus driver lost control of his vehicle.
The mishap occurred on Wednesday morning at Krishna Nagar near Yousufguda crossroads, when the RTC bus was heading towards Kondapur from Secunderabad.
According to the police, the bus driver lost control due to a brake failure, and hit the auto-rickshaw and other vehicles parked on the roadside.
Irked over the incident, the local people stoned the bus. The bus driver went absconding after the accident from the scene.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Mallesh. The police have shifted all the injured to Osmania General Hospital, and their condition is stated to be out of danger.
Sources say that the bus driver was hired on a temporary basis due to the ongoing RTC employees' strike for Telangana. The accident is believed to have occurred because the bus was badly maintained, and because the driver was not experienced in driving.
The Yousufguda police have registered a case against the driver.
