The Telangana government today sanctioned Rs. 194.54 crores for the Sripada Yellampalli Project (stage II, phase I) and issued an order to expedite the works.
Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today said that the State government would complete the construction of the project on time and that required Rs. 194.54 crores. On completion, the project would irrigate 57,400 acres. This would help farmers recover from the dry spell and the floods they experienced this year, he said, adding that the Rudrangi (Kalikota) and Nagaram lakes would be developed into reservoirs.
These reservoirs and canals will have pump houses at Kathalapur, Korutla, Ibrahimpatnam and Metpally mandals.
MP B Vinod Kumar, and MLAs Chennamaneni Ramesh and Vidyasagar Rao met the minister and expressed their gratitude for releasing the funds.
