Telangana To File Review Petition In Supreme Court On NGT Order
Telangana Minister Jagadish Reddy said the government would file a review petition in the SC against the NGT orders stalling the Yadadri Thermal Power Plant.
Telangana Minister for Energy G Jagadish Reddy today said that the State government would approach the Supreme Court and file a review petition against the orders of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) stalling the works of the Yadadri Thermal Power Plant.
Speaking to the media, Reddy said that the State government had started the construction of the power plant at Damaracherla in Nalgonda district after obtaining all environment clearances from the union government, and had spent crores of rupees on it.
"There is a conspiracy going on to stop the power plant works. The NGT verdict is unilateral, and will cause a loss to the entire country. It is in no way justified to issue an order stopping the thermal plant after thousands of crores have been spent by the State government for it. We strongly believe that some invisible forces are behind the verdict," Reddy alleged.
"A Mumbai-based organisation filed the case in the NGT. It is in no way related to the Yadadri power plant. There is definitely a conspiracy behind this," he claimed.
The minister added that works had been going on at a brisk pace to complete the project, and that the State government aimed to start generating power from the plant as early as possible.
He promised that the State government would wage a legal fight against the NGT order, and would file a review petition in the Supreme Court.
