YSR Congress Party leader Y S Sharmila on Monday launched a scathing attack on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, alleging that the latter had not fulfilled even a single one of the 600 promises he had made in the last five years.
Addressing mediapersons at the party office, Sharmila also alleged that the CM was unbelievably corrupt. She cited the Polavaram project as a classic case of Naidu's "corruption" - the estimated cost of the project was hiked from Rs 14,000 crore to over Rs 60,000 crore, and Naidu took up the project works with the state government's money instead of fighting for Central government funds, to get kickbacks, she claimed.
"Naidu came to power riding the slogan of 'Babu will bring jobs', but the only person who seemed to have got a job is his son Lokesh, who was given three portfolios despite having zero political experience and not winning a single election. The unemployed poor of the State continue to languish without jobs, and the government has failed to issue any employment notifications.
"And Naidu made his son the IT minister probably because Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao's son K T Rama Rao was made the IT minister in the neighbouring State, and Naidu tries to emulate that State at every level. And sometimes Naidu just lies in its attempts at that - for example, the TDP government said that it had persuaded Microsoft to set up a centre in AP, but the IT giant denied this completely, exposing the hollow claims of Naidu and Lokesh. And the IT minister of AP has transferred sensitive information relating to citizens of the State, including their bank account details and including that of women, to a private company. What is Naidu's response to this?" Sharmila asked.
She said that instead of punishing the culprits, the AP Chief Minister was "shamelessly" protecting them.
Also targeting Jana Sena party chief Pawan Kalyan, Sharmila alleged that the Jana Sena was a B-team of the TDP, and that while Pawan Kalyan was an actor, Naidu was a director. She cautioned the voters that casting a vote for the JSP would be equivalent to casting a vote for the TDP.
Sharmila said that she would take part in the election campaigning and work hard for the victory of her party's candidates.
