Health Minister D L Ravindra Reddy on Saturday alleged that Kadapa leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy was indirectly blackmailing the All India Congress Committee (AICC) by trying to wean away 5 MLAs.
Talking to media persons at the CLP Office on the Assembly premises, Ravindra Reddy said that the former Congress MP was trying to show his political power to the AICC by weaning away the MLAs. He said that these attempts to blackmail the AICC would not succeed.
The minister also challenged the 5 MLAs reported to be supporting the Kadapa leader to resign from the party and their Assembly seats, and contest elections again. He said that these MLAs had won only because they contested under the Congress banner.
Dr. Ravindra Reddy also stated that he would fight from any seat in Kadapa district under the Congress banner, and challenged Jaganmohan Reddy to contest against him under his own banner and win.
He said that he would not even take the name of former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and still win the by-elections.
The minister also said that Jaganmohan Reddy's talk about human rights, justice and peace were meaningless since he had violated all those noble principles all his life. He added that the people of Kadapa were well aware of Jaganmohan Reddy's wrongdoings.
