Primary Education Minister S Sailajanath on Tuesday denied the allegations by Congress MLAs from the Jagan camp, that the Congress party had used pressure tactics and resorted to blackmail to force them to vote against the recent
No Confidence Motion against the government.
Talking to media persons after emerging from a meeting with Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at his Camp Office, he said that there was no truth in the allegations being levelled by Jagan's supporters. He said that the Congress party had never resorted to pressure tactics to persuade them.
The minister said that the High Command had asked the leaders to persuade them as these MLAs were elected on the 'B' form of the Congress party.
"There is nothing wrong in asking the MLAs to vote against the No Confidence Motion introduced against the government at a crucial period," he stated.
He advised the MLAs to introspect before opting for by-elections on the YSR Congress ticket.
With the defeat of the motion in the Assembly, Sailajanath said, the strength and numbers of Jaganmohan Reddy have been "exposed". He said that the party would discuss disciplinary action on, and the disqualification of, the rebel MLAs, on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Nellore MLA Anam Ramnarayana Reddy, wondered aloud why Jagan's supporting MLAs had become mute spectators when Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu criticized former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in the House. (INN)
