In a significant move that will cause major relief to YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, the CBI special court in Hyderabad, on Monday, granted him bail in the Disproportionate Assets case.
Jagan was arrested by the Central Bureau Of Investigation on May 27, 2012, in the quid pro quo cases involving several companies. Different courts rejected his bail during the last 16 months, and it was only after the CBI told the court that the investigation in the case has been completed, did the court grant him bail.
Jagan was lodged in the Chanchalguda Central Prison since his arrest, and was awarded "special prisoner" status. He had spent a brief period in hospital after he undertook a hunger strike over the Samaikyandhra issue.
Hundreds of Jagan's supporters gathered at the Nampally court, and also near Chanchalguda Jail, to listen to the court's verdict on Jagan's bail petition. (INN)
