YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, on Wednesday, sought exemption from appearing in person before the CBI in connection with the disproportionate assets case, till 15 June.
In a letter sent to the CBI, Jagan appealed to the probing agency to give him relaxation in time for appearing before it as he was "pre-occupied with the election campaign". Jagan's lawyer handed over Jagan's letter to the CBI Superintendent on Wednesday.
It may be mentioned here that while the CBI court had issued a summons asking Jagan to appear before it on 28 May, the CBI had sent a separate summons to the Kadapa MP, seeking his appearance on 25 May for questioning.
The court's summons was served to Jagan while he was campaigning for the by-elections at Macherala.
Jagan said that he would appear before the investigation agency on 15 June, the day by-election results are scheduled to be declared.
He also stated that he was a "law-abiding citizen", and that would never violate it anytime. (INN)
