Jagan has the "DNA" of the Congress, and so he might return to the parent party, says Digvijay Singh.
Hyderabad | 14th March 2014
AICC general secretary Digivijay Singh on Friday predicted that YSRCP president Jaganmohan Reddy might return to the Congress fold in future.
Participating in a "meet the press" program organised by the Hyderabad Press Club at Somajiguda on Friday, Digvijay Singh said that Jagan has the "DNA" of the Congress - his grandfather and his father (YSR) had remained Congress loyalists till their last breath, and Jagan too began his political career from the Congress, he said. Therefore, he might return to the parent party, said Digvijay Singh.
Digvijay Singh also expressed displeasure over former Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy leaving the Congress to float his own party. "We are very disappointed by Kiran Kumar Reddy. He had promised to abide by the decision of the Congress High Command, and assured that he would never leave Congress party. He had also ruled out floating a new party," he said, adding that the Congress respects all leaders who stood by the decision of High Command although they differed on the issue of AP's bifurcation.
The AICC general secretary said that TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao had promised to merge his party after the formation of Telangana, and that his decision not to merge the party has surprised the Congress High Command. However, he said that he respects the political decision. He also did not rule out possibilities of an alliance with the TRS, and said that the A K Antony Committee would explore the option if the TRS agrees to it.
Digivijay Singh also listed out the promises and packages announced by the Centre for both Telangana and Seemandhra. He said both the States have the potential to register speedy growth. He made a specific mention that all cases registered during the Telangana statehood agitation should be withdrawn.
He said that he had completed the deliberations with leaders of the Telangana region, and said that Seemandhra Committee members would meet on Saturday to discuss the poll strategy. He said the entire process of finalising the election strategy would be completed by March 20.
Telangana PCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah and working president C Uttam Kumar Reddy were also present. Hyderabad Press Club president R Ravikanth Reddy welcomed the guests. (INN)
