CBI Files Charge-Sheet Against Jagan
Aurobindo Pharma, Hetero Drugs, Trident Technologies, B P Acharya, Jagathi Publications and Janani Infra are among the others accused in the disproportionate assets
Hyderabad | 31st March 2012
After investigations of nearly 6 months, the Central Bureau Of Investigation, on Saturday, filed a charge-sheet against Kadapa MP and YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and 12 others in the disproportionate assets case.
The probing agency filed its charge sheet against Jaganmohan Reddy, his financial advisor Vijay Sai Reddy and 11 others, including individuals and firms, in the CBI Special Court at Nampally.
The agency named Jagan the prime accused in the case, and has slapped Sections 120, 120B, 420, 468 and 409 of the Prevention Of Corruption Act against him.
Jagan now faces charges under the Sections 120 B (Criminal Conspiracy) read with 420, 468 (Forgery), 409 (Criminal Breach Of Trust), 477/A (Falsification of Accounts), of the Prevention of Corruption Act (1980) 13/1 and 13/2.
In its 68-page charge-sheet, the CBI cited 263 documents and 66 witnesses. The documents were brought to the court in 2 trolleys.
The CBI named Jagathi Publications vice-chairman and Jagan's financial advisor Vijay Sai Reddy as the second accused, followed by suspended IAS officer B P Acharya and Jagati Publications (which runs Sakshi, the newspaper), as the co-accused.
The agency charged Vijay Sai Reddy with offences of criminal conspiracy and cheating, and also under other provisions of the IPC.
It may be recalled that the CBI had issued FIR in August 2011 against Jagan and 73 others, including some companies and individuals who invested in companies promoted by Jagan. These investments were made at very high premiums, allegedly as quid pro quo to the favours doled out by former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy under his son's influence.
The CBI has now named 13 accused in the case, including Vijay Sai Reddy, who has already been arrested.
The other accused in the case, in descending order, are Aurobindo Pharma (A3), Hetero Drugs (A4), Trident Technologies (A5), Srinivasa Reddy (A6), Nityananda Reddy (A7), Chandrasekhar (A8), B P Acharya (A9), Yaddanapudi Vijayalakshmi Prasad (A10), Chandramouli (A11), Jagathi Publications (A12) and Janani Infra (A13).
Earlier, the court had directed the CBI to file the charge-sheet before 2 April. (INN)
