HC Adjourns Hearing On Jagan's Bail Petition
Jagan wants interim bail so that he can campaign for the by-polls and then surrender before the court on 10 June.

High Court Justice B Chandra Kumar, on Thursday, adjourned the hearing on an interim bail petition of YSR Congress party president Jaganmohan Reddy, to 1 June. The bail petition was filed in connection with the case of Jagan's disproportionate assets.
In his fresh bail petition, Jagan's counsel said that his client needs bail to campaign for the party in the by-elections scheduled to be held on 12 June.
The counsel said that Jagan would surrender before the court after the election campaign is completed, on 10 June, at 5pm.
The counsel said that as it is difficult to sign in the police register at the state capital, Jagan would report to the local police station wherever he campaigns, every day, and attend court on 11 June.
In the counter petition, the CBI counsel opposed the granting of interim bail to Jagan as, it said, it might affect the progress of the case. The CBI raised apprehensions that Jagan might tamper with the evidence and influence witnesses, if he is released on bail.
The counsel said that those who were involved in economic offences in the country have no right to seek freedom. He reminded the court that 142 MPs were booked under the Economic Offences Act so far.
The agency also submitted to the court that Jagan was not contesting the by-elections, and that that is why his presence is not required for the campaigning.
After hearing the arguments and counter arguments, the court posted the petition for hearing to Friday. (INN)
