the CBI court, on Monday, remanded YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy to judicial custody till 11 June, in connection with the alleged disproportionate assets case.
While remanding him to judicial custody, the court rejected the CBI's plea seeking 14 days custody of Jagan for further questioning.
His mother Y S Vijayamma, and other family members, who are on a dharna protesting his arrest, broke down on hearing the news.
The court also rejected Jagan's petition seeking bail. The CBI's counsel contended that Jagan might tamper with the evidence and influence the witnesses if he is released on bail.
CBI counsel Ashok Bhan alleged that Jaganmohan Reddy sent his bribe amounts abroad using hawala channels, and that he had got them all re-invested in his businesses. He also complained that Jagan had never cooperated, in the true sense, in the investigation during the 3-day questioning period.
"Jagan can no longer masquerade as a victim of the CBI probe. He cannot assail the CBI for being victimised. He has hoodwinked the people of a huge sum of money. We will now show the people about his swindling of money. He cannot seek public sympathy. He has deprived poor people and caused them irreparable loss and in turn enriched himself by dubious mechanisms, by sending the funds abroad and getting the same invested in his companies," the CBI's counsel alleged.
Following directions from the court, the officials shifted Jaganmohan Reddy to Chanchalguda Jail under tight security. The court also directed jail officials to allot him a special cell.
Earlier, in the morning, CBI officials produced Jagan in the court under tight security, and installed CCTV cameras around the court complex. (INN)

Sir, Ultimately, A1 is in Jail. It is part of process. The protest by family members including mother and MLA,is un called for. Being MLA she should respect the law and leave the matter to the courts. Now you have to prove your innocence to the court. For this you have already engaged the best available lawyers. Now you will come out clean if you are clean. Otherwise you deserve what the court awards you. In view of this, your protests, bundh call, all are unwanted. No amount of such pressure can tilt the balance.. All hue and cry of an accused who had gathered crores of rupees under the shadow of father's power has to ultimately cool his heels behind bars.. Also those who helped you in this operation for their gain will give company to him in jail. so people's sincere advice is pl. submit all that you have in your favour and prove that, you or your father have done no wrong. Till then help the courts. Protest, anarchy, arson, loot maar or any such illegal acts will send wrong signals and people will conclude that u are trying to escape from the law. Earlier the chief ministers, viz T.nadu, UP etc have gone to jails respecting the law. They did not adopt cheap tactics like you. Pl.advise your cadre and coop. with the law. Jai Hind
