Hyderabad | 11th June 2012
The CBI special court at Nampally, on Monday, extended the judicial remand of YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy, who was arrested in connection with the case of his disproportionate assets, till 25 June.
The court took this decision, following the expiry of Jagan's judicial custody on Monday.
Earlier, the High Court granted the CBI 5 days of his custody, from 3 to 7 June. The custody was extended to 2 more days till 10 June, following a request from the probing agency.
Meanwhile, the CBI filed a petition in the court, seeking its permission to conduct a narco-analysis test on Jaganmohan Reddy. After hearing the CBI's arguments, the court adjourned the next hearing to 14 June.
Jagan raised serious objection to jail officials bringing him in an ordinary bus despite him having Z-category security. The court had ordered that he be given a bullet-proof car.
After hearing the arguments, the court sought an explanation from the jail officials, and adjourned the hearing on it to 14 June.
Earlier, Jagan had sought permission from the court to speak to his wife and mother.
Jagan was arrested on 27 May by the CBI, after a 3-day questioning at the Dilkusha Guest House over alleged investments to the tune of several hundred crores from various individuals and companies into his businesses, for favours granted by the then Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy during 2004-09.
In its 3 charge sheets filed against Jagan and others, the CBI alleged that he and his late father had hatched a conspiracy to defraud the government, with Jagan influencing Rajasekhara Reddy in doling out certain favours to various investors, who invested several crores into Jagan's businesses.
