Hameedunnisa Begum is battling official lethargy, bureaucratic red tape, corruption and political, police and social pressure - to reclaim her own land.
A heart-rending tale of a woman - fighting day in and day out with official lethargy, bureaucratic red tape, corruption and political, police and social pressure, and her rapidly advancing age - who wants to reclaim her rightful share of inherited land, has come to light.
The woman, Hameedunnisa Begum claims that she is the rightful owner of 69 acres of land at Hashmathpet, which is under the possession of Trimulgherry mandal authorities. The land, which is under Survey No. 57, has not been allotted to her by the Mandal officials, despite directives from the Supreme Court and the state High Court.
Mrs. Begum alleges that the Mandal officials have ignored the directives by the Apex Court at the behest of a former Collector with the intention of usurping her ownership.
According to reports, the 69 acre land situated at Hashmathpet village, under Balanagar Mandal, Rangareddy district, is part of the Nawab Khursheed Jah Bahadur Estate, as per High Court verdict (CS No 14 of 1958).
Hameedunnisa Begum is one of the heirs to Nawab Khursheed Jah Bahadur. According to her, in the original sale deed the land measures 165 acres, but in 2008, as per a survey conducted by the Assistant Director and Deputy Director, Survey and Land Records, the land is shown as measuring 69 acres.
When she staked her claim to the land, a case (LGC No 104/1989) was allegedly slapped on her, and she was accused of attempting to grab government lands.
This was followed by a series of petitions, counter-petitions and judgments, pleading dismissal of this case against her. The Supreme Court was approached as well, to get the land-grabbing case dismissed.
Hameedunnisa alleges that in the meantime, officials of the Survey and Land Records department, either deliberately or due to gross negligence, changed the survey numbers. She claims that after changing the survey numbers, the authorities then started to allot her land to eminent personalities.
She is now battling all odds to convince the Hyderabad District Collector, Trimulgherry Mandal Tahsildar, the Secunderabad Customs and Excise Department, and the Agriculture Market Committee's Chairman for conducting a fresh survey of Hashmathpet village.
