The Leader of Opposition in the Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir strongly condemned the TRS government's proposed hike in the TSRTC bus fares and the power tariff.
Speaking to media persons, Shabbir Ali accused Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao of mishandling both the RTC and the energy departments. He said that instead of taking measures to improve the functioning of the RTC during the last two years, the KCR government pushed the corporation into a crisis, and now it was threatening to close it down.
"KCR is finding over a dozen specious reasons to justify the proposed hike in the RTC tariffs. His government has also failed to generate a single MW of additional power in the last two years, but has now cleared a hike in the power tariff. The Congress will launch a mass agitation against the proposed hikes," he said.
Reminding KCR of a speech that he delivered at HICC on 2nd June on the second anniversary of Telangana's formation, Deputy CLP leader Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy asked why a State which was boasting of being revenue surplus and planning to take its annual budget to Rs. 5 lakh crores in the next three years wanted to burden the common man with hikes in RTC and power tariffs.
