The Telangana TDP today threatened an agitation if the TRS government went ahead with its proposed hike in the power tariff and the TSRTC bus fares.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Telangana TDP chief L Ramana asked the government the need to increase the power tariff and the RTC bus charges when the State had surplus funds and was rich.
Demanding that the government withdraw any move to hike charges, Ramana said that if the power tariffs were increased, his party would launch an agitation.
Ramana alleged that KCR, who came to power by promising water, funds and employment, was now busy in providing water and funds to his farmhouse and jobs to TRS workers. He accused KCR of creating new problems instead of resolving the existing ones.
"The time has come to revolt against the government as the people are fed up with its two-year rule which failed even to control price rises in essential commodities," he said.
Another TDP leader Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy also alleged that the TRS government was burdening the people by increasing power and RTC bus charges.
The proposed move of the government would have a cascading impact on essential commodities, he warned.
Reddy questioned the government about the need to hike charges when it claimed that the State had surplus funds, and asked KCR why he was spending crores of rupees for his official residence if there was no money to run the RTC or the power utilities without hiking the tariffs.
Reddy alleged that KCR was building a huge annex to his official residence in the backyard of the present camp office, in an area of 20 acres of government land, by spending crores of rupees of public money, while complaining about the RTC and the power utilities not having money.
Reddy, too, warned that if the government failed to withdraw its proposed hike, an agitation would be launched.
