With Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy not saying anything about state minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao's resignation letter that was sent a month ago, the minister has decided to now submit his resignation to Governor E S L Narasimhan.
On August 1, Ganta had submitted his resignation letter to the Chief Minister, protesting against the Congress Working Committee's decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh to carve out a Telangana state. Over a dozen other ministers from the Seemandhra region, too, had announced their resignations, and sent their papers to the Chief Minister. However, a decision on their resignations is still pending.
Stating that his decision to quit the cabinet is firm, he told reporters that he would submit his resignation directly to the Governor.
Ganta holds the portfolio of Infrastructure and Investment, and had resigned from the cabinet after statehood was announced for the Telangana region. (INN)
