The Telangana Rashtra Samithi, on Monday, announced that it would stall the proceedings of the the state Legislative Assembly till the House adopts a resolution on a separate Telangana.
Talking to reporters at the Assembly's media point on Monday after Governor E S L Narasimhan's address, TRS floor leader Etela Rajender and MLAs K Taraka Rama Rao and T Harish Rao defended their party's decision to boycott the Governor's address for the lack mention of Telangana in the speech.
They announced that they would not allow the House to function till it passes a resolution on Telangana.
Harish Rao accused the Congress party of misleading the people on the Telangana issue. He recalled that Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad announced that Telangana issue would be resolved after Bakrid, and complained that the decision on statehood has been kept in abeyance for one or the other reason.
Etala also criticised Speaker Nandendla Manohar for giving special recognition to Praja Rajyam Party in the House despite its merger with the Congress. He said the move was aimed at suppressing the privileges and rights of Opposition parties.
On the other hand, the Speaker has been delaying the decision against rebel Congress MLAs who openly violated the whip in favour of the YSR Congress party, Etela said.
He alleged that the Speaker was basicallt giving the Congress enough time and opportunity to win back its rebel MLAs.
The TRS floor leader also alleged that irregularities had taken place in the modernisation of the Assembly's building, and demanded an enquiry into the matter. (INN)
