BJP leaders of the state continued to make communally charged statements in their campaigning for the GHMC elections.
Addressing an election campaign in Uppal, BJP Telangana president Bandi Sanjay Kumar today said that the party would execute a surgical strike on the Old City if it won the GHMC elections, and send out all Rohingyas and Pakistani nationals to their countries.
He claimed that the Rohingyas and the Pakistanis were casting votes in the Old City, and that the MIM was behind the state of affairs in the Old City.
Separately, BJP National General Secretary Muralidhar Rao alleged that the MIM had demanded the merger of Hyderabad with Pakistan in 1948.
Addressing the media at the party headquarters, he also said that an MIM MLA of Bihar had said that he would not take oath by using the term Hindustan, which showed that the MIM still had the same loyalties that it did in 1948.
Municipal Administration minister K T Rama Rao later condemned Bandi's remarks on executing a surgical strike on the Old City.
In a tweet, the minister expressed serious discontent that Bandi had said such a thing for just a few victories in the GHMC elections.
He also asked whether union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy supported such hate speech by his colleague.
KTR reiterated that the BJP leaders were spreading hatred in the city, and disturbing its peace and harmony.
