The development of the IT sector in all four sides of the city was the aim of the state government, Minister for Industry and IT K T Rama Rao declared today.
Plans were afoot to ensure that one lakh people got jobs in east Hyderabad, and when the Genpact expansion program was completed, the aim would be nearly achieved, he claimed.
Speaking at the bhoomi puja of the Genpact (an IT company) expansion works along with minister Malla Reddy, KTR thanked Genpact for taking up the expansion.
He then said that the eastern side of the city was being developed on par with the western side.
He said that a Shilparamam was established at Nagole as one of the steps towards this.
The international cricket stadium was also located in this area, he pointed out.
Then, a skywalk was being built from Uppal to Narapalli and the Uppal junction, he added.
He assured support for private developers planning to work in the eastern side.
The minister then thanked Genpact for its expansion works in Warangal too.
Uppal MLA Bethi Subhash Reddy, IT Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, former Mayor Bonthu Rammohan and others participated in the bhoomi puja.
