TRS MLA Pocharam Srinivas, on Wednesday, ridiculed Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde's statement wherein the latter had claimed that there was no consensus on the Telangana issue.
Speaking to media persons at the Assembly's media point, Pocharam asked whether there had been any consensus when the Telangana region was forcibly merged with Andhra. He said that there was consensus when the then Home Minister P Chidambaram had announced the formation of Telangana in December 2009.
"However, the Centre did not honour its words, and now, the issue of consensus is being raised," alleged Pocharam.
Pocharam also condemned the state government for not permitting the Chalo Assembly rally. He said that pro-Telangana activists were not planning to gherao the Assembly, but want to highlight the intensity of their demand. (INN)
