Telangana Information Technology and Panchayat Raj Minister K T Rama Rao vowed to spend Rs 20,000 crores to develop transport facilities and transform Hyderabad into a global city with infrastructure and facilities of global standards.
"Our intention is to provide better connectivity, facilities and infrastructure to the people of the twin cities and the state on a whole," the minister said.
KTR was participating in several developmental programs including the laying the foundation stone for the construction of a flyover, the inauguration of a Japanese park near KBR Park in Banjara Hills, and that of a multi-level flyover in the Mind Space area in the city.
Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, Deputy Chief Minister Mahamood Ali, Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy, ministers T Srinivas Yadav and P Mahender Reddy, MPs K Keshava Rao and Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, and others attended the program.
Speaking on the occasion, KTR reiterated that Hyderabad was witnessing rapid growth after statehood for Telangana was achieved. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had prepared plans to make the city a global metropolis with all facilities, he said.
For example, he said that the government would spend huge funds to construct multi-level flyovers, level separators, junctions and bridges to combat the heavy traffic problems.
He also said that the credit for addressing power problems during the summer went to their government.
He exhorted the leaders to keep politics aside and come forward for the development of the city and the State.
The IT Minister also asked union minister Dattatreya and other BJP leaders to make efforts to bring more funds to Telangana.
Dattatreya said that the Centre would provide the necessary financial assistance to make Hyderabad a global city.
"I will talk to the ministers concerned to get more funds for the State's development," he said.
