The Congress, on Tuesday, slammed media reports saying that the
arrest of Vijay Sai Reddy was a conspiracy hatched by the state and central governments.
"The reports which contend that Jagati Publication Vice President Vijay Sai Reddy was arrested to weaken the YSR Congress party in the by-elections are baseless. There is no basis to them, and they are far from truth," Anam Vivekananda Reddy said.
He added, "There is no need for Congress to resort to such tactics, and the CBI had arrested Vijay Sai Reddy for his alleged involvement in the disproportionate assets case of Jagan Mohan Reddy".
"Congress will go to elections on the strength of its welfare schemes and programs and seek the mandate," the Congress MLA from Nellore said.
The CBI arrested Vijay Sai Reddy for admitting to committing a crime and laundering public money, and the people behind the money laundering should also be arrested, he said.
People misusing public money are more dangerous than terrorists, Anam said, and demanded that stern action be taken against all those who are connected to the case. (INN)
