Telugu Desam Party president Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Friday said that victory on the Babli issue would be more important than winning the by-elections.
Talking to media persons at his residence, Naidu said that the TDP had won partial victory over the Babli issue. He said that his party had chosen to work for the self-respect of Telugu people rather than try to win the by-elections.
Naidu, nevertheless, said that he would study the results of the by-elections in detail and try to pinpoint where the party went wrong. He added that victory and defeat in elections are a natural process.
The TDP chief pointed out that his party had won 39 more seats in 2009 elections than its tally of 2004 elections. He added that his party had not taken the by-elections seriously, as was evident by the fact that no senior party leader had even campaigned for them.
Naidu extended his thanks to all those people who had voted for the Telugu Desam Party, and said that the TDP was formed for the sake of Telugu people.
He reiterated that the TDP will always work for the welfare of the people and keep their interests foremost.
