Ex-Congress MP V Hanumantha Rao staged a dharna at the Rajiv Gandhi statue in protest against the police filing "false" cases against him.

The Punjagutta police today arrested Congress leader and former Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao at Somajiguda where the latter was staging a dharna along with his followers at the Rajiv Gandhi statue.

The police shifted Rao to Goshamahal Police Station.

VHR staged a dharna at the Rajiv Gandhi statue in protest against the police filing "false" cases against him.

He also clarified that he had only chided a police official at the Assembly media point three days ago. He said the police were intentionally making allegations against him.
