The High Court's had set aside the election of Narsa Reddy, the Telugu Desam MLC, and allowed Venkat Rami Reddy to take oath, but Narsa Reddy now raises an objection against the swearing-in of the latter.
State Legislative Council chairman Dr. A Chakrapani, on Monday, did not permit Venkat Rami Reddy, a Congress candidate who was elected as the MLC from the local bodies' constituency of Nizamabad district, to take oath of office, as Telugu Desam MLC Narsa Reddy had raised a serious objection over his taking oath.
According to reports, when Venkat Rami Reddy came to take oath with the High Court's orders, which set aside the election of Narsa Reddy, the Telugu Desam MLC raised an objection, and stated that the court had given him 4 weeks' time to approach the Supreme Court over its verdict.
After taking copies of the High Court's orders from both candidates, the chairman adjourned the ceremony of Venkat Rami Reddy's oath of office.
The chairman declared that he would conduct the oath of office only after the court clears the case.
Talking to media persons at the Council Hall, Narsa Reddy said that he was consulting legal experts to file a petition in the Supreme Court against the High Court's orders. (INN)
