The Election Commission on Sunday sent notices to TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao and the Information Technology and sports & youth services minister KomatiReddy Venkat Reddy, for alleged violations of the model code of conduct.
The Election Commission had received a visual clipping of Venkat Reddy in which he is seen promising some youth that he would take up road and irrigation works and complete the works within a year, if they elect the Sirpur Congress candidate. The minister is alleged to have made the promise on July 21.
According to the EC, Venkat Reddy's promises are in violation of the model code. He has been given time till July 26 to offer an explanation.
Meanwhile, the TRS chief was also issued a notice for asking voters to accept money and liquor from the Congress but still vote for his party. He is also accused of making derogatory remarks against home minister Sabitha Indra Reddy.
KCR has till July 26 to explain his actions of promoting social evils like liquor and bribery, and also usage of derogatory language against a woman, according to the EC.
