Senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday condemned the
arrest of Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, and described the detention as an 'error' on the part of the Maharashtra government.
Talking to media persons at the party headquarters on Sunday, Venkaiah Naidu said that the arrest has turned the issue into a controversy.
The senior politician also said that the centre's silence on the issue has helped in stoking the fire over the issue.
Naidu also found fault with Babu for undertaking the visit to the Babli Irrigation Project site at a time when by-elections to 12 assembly constituencies were due.
He said that the visit was wrongly-timed since the ensuing by-elections has given it a political colour. The senior BJP leader also questioned the
adamant stance taken by the Maharashtra government, and said that there should be no problem in allowing the TDP team to inspect the Babli project.
