The International Velama Jagruti Association today demanded that Telangana Congress president Revanth Reddy tender a public apology to the Velama community for making "insulting" remarks against it.
Addressing media persons, the State president of the association P Venkateshwarlu said that Reddy had made insulting remarks against his community, and that they were condemning the comments of the TPCC chief.
He told Reddy that several leaders from his community like former CM Jalagam Vengal Rao had extended their total support to make Congress leader Indira Gandhi the Prime Minister of the country, and that the Congress owed a lot to the community.
He also said that the comments of Reddy symbolized his own community's hatred and arrogance.
He said that Reddy, who was currently in the US, should tender his apology as soon as he landed in the Hyderabad airport, and warned the TPCC head that the Velamas would not allow Reddy to move in the city if he did not.
He also said that they would show the power of the Velama community by holding a massive public meeting in the State capital.
Other association leaders Potlapally Narayana Rao, Chandrasekhar Rao and Venkateshwar Rao were also present.
