Vanasthalipuram Circle Inspector Raju was arrested by the police today along with his "lover".
The arrests followed a complaint by his wife, who also staged a dharna in front of the police station along with her children.
She lodged a complaint with the police stating that her husband was in an extra-marital relationship with a woman, and demanded action against him. Following this, two police constables caught the CI with his alleged lover in a car. They also found him in an inebriated condition.
Upon seeing the police constables, the accused CI abused them and attacked them.
The police constables lodged a complaint against the CI, resulting in his arrest.
The incident is the second involving an officer of the rank of CI in an extra-marital affair. Earlier, Marredpally police CI Nageswar Rao had also been arrested by the police following a complaint by a woman who said that he had raped her.
