Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao said that the University Of Hyderabad (Hyderabad Central University) Vice-Chancellor Appa Rao Podile had not listened to any intellectuals' advice to not expel the five dalit students. Instead, as the Vice-Chancellor had himself said, he had initiated action against the students following the directions of BJP MLC Ramachander Rao, showing clearly that the Central university had become a place dominated by the RSS and the ABVP, VHR alleged.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, VHR lamented that the VC acting at the behest of Ramachander Rao was unfortunate.
He also alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was shedding crocodile tears when saying that "Bharat Mata had lost a good son", and asked Modi if he didn't know how Rohith Vemula died.
He demanded that the Prime Minister take stringent action against the persons responsible for the death of Vemula.
He also alleged that Ramachander Rao was trying to make his brother a member of the AICTE to transform it into another bastion of the ABVP and the RSS.
Finding fault with the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for not visiting the university yet, VHR suggested that the dalit unions and students pull up the CM for that.
He also advised the students to come forward to defeat the anti-dalits in the upcoming GHMC elections.
