T, President's Rule Get Pranab's Nod

President Pranab Mukherjee gives the go ahead to the Telangana bill and to the imposition of the President's Rule in Andhra Pradesh.
Hyderabad | 1st March 2014
President Pranab Mukherjee, on Saturday, gave his nod to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill meant for the state's bifurcation in order to form Telangana.

He also signed the proclamation to impose President's Rule in Andhra Pradesh.

The President's assent to the bill, which was passed by the Parliament on February 20, paved the way for the formation of Telangana, which will now be the 29th state in the country.

While Telangana will have 10 districts, the residual state of Andhra Pradesh will retain 13 districts although both the states will share Hyderabad as a common capital.

The President also signed the proclamation to impose President's rule in Andhra Pradesh and to place the Assembly under suspended animation, a decision which was recommended by the Union Cabinet on Friday.

The President's Rule in the State, after a gap of 41 years, was necessitated due to the resignation of N Kiran Kumar Reddy as the Chief Minister on February 19. (INN)
