Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari today slammed two corporate colleges for trying to dictate terms to the government through wrong publicity.
Inaugurating an education expo at the Nizam College grounds on Saturday, Srihari, who holds the education portfolio, accused the two corporate colleges of indulging in wrong publicity, and of dictating terms to Board of Intermediate Education.
"The two colleges have brought a bad name to the state, while many other colleges have mushroomed for the sake of fees reimbursement," he charged.
The state government had taken stock of the situation, and had decided to revamp and strengthen the entire structure of engineering education, he said.
Steps would be taken to strengthen the government college-administered engineering education to ensure quality and standards that would help them surpass other colleges, he said.
He also took serious exception to the previous governments encouraging corruption and misuse of funds through fee reimbursement for engineering colleges.
"Our engineering education is ridiculed at the national level for its poor quality, and the TRS government will wipe out that scar through persistent efforts," he added. (NSS)
