Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao informed the Telangana State Legislative Assembly that the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board owed Rs 241 crores to the Telangana State, as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.
Replying to a question posed by Mudhole MLA G Vittal Reddy during the Question Hour, Rao said that the State Government was making efforts to get Rs 241 crores from the TTD at the earliest.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao too directed the officials to expedite the process, Rao said, and added that while the TTD owed Rs 241 crores as per the Reorganisation Act, it came to around Rs 381 crores as per the CAG report.
He said that the TTD would deposit the amount in the account of the Endowments Department, which in turn would release the amount to the State's exchequer.
Harish Rao also announced that the Yadagirigutta Temple would be developed at a cost of Rs 100 crores, on the lines of the TTD.
He assured that the Government would take all steps to develop temples across Telangana.
The minister did not deny that the previous government of united Andhra Pradesh gave priority to sanctioning money in the Common Good Fund to the Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, although he said that the information was not readily available.
He added that 33 applications under the CGF for Telangana temples worth Rs 17.11 crores were pending.
BJP floor leader Dr Lakshman urged the government to resolve the problems being faced by the Archakas.
He also said that nearly Rs 25 crores were required for the renovation of about 200 temples in the Nalgonda district.
