Congress MLA Ch. Muthyam Reddy on Monday threatened to move a privilege motion against the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam Board for not entertaining his requisition for providing Arjitha Sevas to people recommended by him.
Talking to reporters at the Congress Legislature Party office, Muthyam Reddy said that he was the lone member of the TTD Board from Telangana, and that he was empowered to send requisitions for Arjitha Sevas.
In exercise of his powers, on 6 October he sent 3 separate requisitions recommending 15 people for Arjita Sevas at TTD. However, he alleged that the requisitions were "thrown in the dustbin by a junior TTD employee".
Muthyam Reddy said that when he raised the matter in the TTD Board meeting, the other members alleged that the people recommended by him were his family members.
He claimed that none of the 15 members recommended by him were related to him. He said he was even ready for an enquiry.
He also alleged that the TTD Board discriminates between the rich and the poor. A VIP gets entry into the Garbha Gudi on paying Rs. 500, whereas a normal person pays the similar amount only for a Laghu Darshanam.
He demanded that TTD tickets be sold online to contain the growing corruption within TTD.
However, Muthyam Reddy said that being an MLA and also a TTD member he felt humiliated, and that therefore he would move a privilege motion against the TTD Board and the employees concerned before Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar. (INN)
