Hyderabad | 2nd December 2019
The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) will hike its fares for bus travel from Monday midnight across the State.
The government directed the corporation to hike charges by 20 paisa per kilometer, a move that is expected to fetch Rs 750 crore in additional revenue to the ailing body.
Also, the new minimum bus fares will be Rs 15 in Express, Rs 25 in Super Luxury, and Rs 35 in Garuda and AC sleeper buses.
In Hyderabad, the minimum fare in ordinary buses will be hiked from Rs 5 to Rs 10. The Metro Express minimum fare will be kept unchanged at Rs 10, but the maximum fare will be hiked from Rs 30 to Rs 35. In the deluxe buses, too, the minimum fare will be the same, but the maximum fare will be hiked from Rs 30 to Rs 40.
The ordinary monthly bus pass fee will be hiked from Rs 770 to 950, the Metro Express bus pass fee from Rs 880 to 1,070, and the Metro Deluxe bus pass from Rs 990 to Rs 1,185.
The price of the Travel As You Like (TAYL) 24-hour bus pass will be raised from Rs 80 to Rs 100.
On account of a problem with tendering change to passengers, the minimum fare in Pallevelugu services will be hiked from Rs 6 to Rs 10, and the maximum fare from Rs 73 to Rs 100.
TSRTC officials are reported to have made all necessary arrangements to implement the hikes, and directed the conductors and drivers to collect the new charges from the midnight of December 2.
The hike in bus fares comes after the bruising 52-day strike by TSRTC workers in October and November.
