TRS Supports EVM Use, 16 Of 55 Parties Oppose
At an all-party meeting conducted by Election Commission Of India, TRS MP B Vinod Kumar stated that the party supported the usage of EVMs in elections.
At a time when several political parties are challenging the authenticity of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), TRS came in support of them.
At an all-party meeting conducted by Election Commission Of India in Delhi on Friday, TRS MP B Vinod Kumar represented TRS and stated that the party was in support of the usage of EVMs in elections.
He later told reporters that TRS welcomed the use of EVMs. He opposed the political parties against them for making "false" allegations that the EVMs could be tampered with. Those parties should stop raising doubts over the use and the process of elections by their false criticism, he said.
The meeting, attended by 55 political parties from across the country including seven national and other regional parties, saw mixed reactions with 16 parties reportedly opposed to the use of EVMs claiming they were not foolproof and could be tampered with. However, the EC rejected their comments stating that the machines could not be tampered with.
