Former minister and TDP senior leader Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy on Thursday accused the Telangana Rashtra Samithi of politicising the Polavaram irrigation project.
Speaking to media persons, Somireddy rubbished the TRS' objection to the merging of a few villages of the Khammam district with the Seemandhra region.
He claimed that those villages were part of the Vijayanagar kingdom, and therefore, should be part of Seemandhra.
He said that the TRS did not object to the merger of those villages in the recent past. He said that it had started opposing the merger only after it came to power in the Telangana region.
Somireddy said that such controversies would create enmity between the people of Telangana and Seemandhra, and therefore the TRS should avoid making an issue of this. (INN)
