Telangana Bandh Hits Normal Life

The impact of the bandh call was severe in all districts except the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
Hyderabad | 29th May 2014
The day-long bandh call given by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in protest against the Centre's ordinance merging 136 villages in 7 mandals of the Khammam district for the Polavaram Project, hit normal life in all 10 districts of Telangana on Thursday.

The impact of the bandh call was severe in all districts except the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

While all shops and establishments remained closed, the buses of the state-owned APSRTC went off the roads in all 10 districts including Hyderabad.

Most of the petrol bunks too remained close across Telangana.

Thin attendance was reported in government and private offices due to the bandh.

The Osmania University postponed all its exams scheduled on Thursday. The PGCET too has been postponed and rescheduled to May 31.

The Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) too postponed the Intermediate Advance Supplementary Examination scheduled for Thursday.

TRS leaders staged protests outside RTC depots since early in the day, and a few leaders were also taken into preventive custody by the police. (INN)
