Peddapalli MP G Vivekanand and former minister G Vinod have announced their return to the Congress fold from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
Both Vivek and Vinod called on Congress president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi on Monday. Speaking to media persons later, Vivek said that the Congress President had fulfilled her promise of giving statehood to the Telangana region, and had made of lot of sacrifices for the same. Therefore, he has decided to return to the Congress party.
He said he was persuaded by his father and former Union Minister G Venkataswamy to rejoin the Congress party.
Sources say that Nagarkurnool MP Manda Jagannath too may rejoin the Congress party soon.
Meanwhile, Telangana Congress leaders K Jana Reddy, the Komatireddy brothers and Anjan Kumar Yadav met Digvijay Singh. Their meeting assumes significance in view of reports earlier that Jana Reddy and the Komatireddy brothers were contemplating joining the TRS. However, by meeting Digvijay Singh they ended all speculations of their exit from the Congress party.
Sources say that the exit of Vinod and Vivek from the TRS has also ended all possibilities of a possible alliance between the Congress and the TRS. (INN)
