Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay today attacked the TRS government claiming that it was deliberately trying to dilute the local bodies of the state, and that the government's lack of concern for the bodies was evidenced by the "pathetic" conditions of the bodies and their representatives.
He alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao thought of the local body representatives only when there were elections around the corner, and that the CM had not allocated even a single penny for the development of the local bodies so far.
"Unlike the Centre, which supports and strengthens all the local bodies across the country, and has been providing funds to Telangana's local bodies for the construction of the Rythu Vedikas and crematoria, and the purchase of tractors and other infrastructure, the TRS regime has only shown apathy towards the bodies and their representatives," Kumar claimed.
The TRS government has consistently been drawing flak for its alleged negligence towards the state's local bodies. Several civil society organisations and Opposition leaders have also accused it of diverting the funds from the local bodies to line the pockets of its leaders. The Congress leaders in the state had even organised an agitation against the government to
protest its treatment of the state's rural local bodies and their representatives, earlier this month.
