The TRS leadership today slammed Telugu Desam Party MP T G Venkatesh for his remarks against Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and the TRS leadership.
The outspoken TDP leader had wanted that the TRS leadership support the state's fight for Special Category Status. Venkatesh had also warned that he would campaign against the TRS in the next elections if it failed to support the Special Category Status cause.
Talking to mediapersons at the TRS Legislature Party office today, party spokesman and MLC Karne Prabhakar accused the TDP leader of playing cheap tricks for political mileage. The remarks were at the behest of Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu, he alleged.
When TRS MP K Kavitha had spoken in Parliament openly in favour of Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh, why did Venkatesh need to make it appear through his comments like the TRS was in some way inimical to the move, he asked.
The TDP leadership was envious of the speedy development of Telangana, and for that reason was resorting to false and unscrupulous statements against the Telangana Chief Minister, he claimed. He asked Venkatesh to stop his mudslinging at the TRS government and stay silent.
"Chandrababu Naidu should desist from encouraging leaders like T G Venkatesh," he added.
He said that the TRS had no problem if the TDP leadership went ahead with its plans to stage protests and conduct struggles for achieving special status.
