The TRS, which has been fighting with the Centre for a quota hike for STs and Muslims in Telangana, has now decided to take on the Centre on another front, too.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao took a surprising decision to vote in favour of any no-confidence motion to be moved against the BJP-led NDA government in Parliament during the budget session in support of Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh.
Both the ruling TDP and the opposition YSR Congress Party have moved no-confidence motions against the Union government for Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh. The TRS appears to be willing back whichever's party's motion gets admitted.
Addressing the media at the TRSLP office, MLC and TRS spokesperson Karne Prabhakar said that the TRS MPs would vote against the Centre and in support of the no-trust motion.
"We have plans to oppose the NDA government as the Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh was justified. The Centre ought to keep its promises in the A P Reorganization Act, and SCS is need of the hour for AP to develop. The Centre should respect the sentiments of the people of AP," he said.
