After Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir criticised
Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan's Budget address to the state's legislature for being "factually incorrect" and "misleading", today Assembly floor leader of the BJP M Raghunandan Rao also expressed his displeasure at the speech.
Addressing the media at the Assembly media point, he alleged that the TRS government had made the Governor "tell lies in her address", and that the speech was therefore an "unconstitutional" one.
"The TRS regime has made the Governor parrot doctored figures and lies that paint an overly-rosy picture of the status of Telangana's finances and developmental achievements. In her speech, the Governor was made to falsely claim that the irrigation projects of the state have all been completed. The irrigation projects however are proceeding in a delayed and halting fashion. The
Mallannasagar oustees still have not received any compensation for the lands they lost. Then, the government has no right to highlight its commitment to welfare and development," Rao charged.
Accusing the TRS regime of ruling the state without any vision or plan to develop it, and of not valuing human labour and intellectual property rights, he added, "Not even a single ration card has been issued to the poor of the state after its formation in 2014. Neither has a farm loan waiver scheme been implemented yet. In a bid to keep the Opposition quiet, the ruling party then has the nerve to coerce the police to crush dissent. My constituency, Dubbaka, is perpetually under Section 144 for this reason. Despite such police activity, the government has been unable to prevent the deterioration of Telangana's law and order situation. Today, our state stands at the brink of another revolution. If the TRS' feudal rule continues the people will revolt soon."
The MLA also flayed the government for not singing the Telangana state song after the singing of the national anthem in the Assembly.
