"Release Krishna Water For Nalgonda"
KTR demands that the state government release water from the Nagarjuna Sagar dam, to the fluoride-affected Nalgonda district.
Hyderabad | 8th July 2012
Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLA K Tarakarama Rao, on Sunday, demanded that the state government release water from the Krishna, from the Nagarjuna Sagar dam, to the fluoride-affected Nalgonda district, on top priority.
Talking to media persons, Tarakarama Rao said that the government must first release Krishna's water to fulfill the drinking water needs of Nalgonda district, which is gripped with the flouride problem.
He alleged that the government has been releasing 4 TMC of water from Nagajuna Sagar, secretly, to the farmers of the Krishna delta. He warned the government of serious consequences if it does not stop the release of water from the dam, and neglecting the interests of the Telangana region.
The TRS leader asked how the government could release water from the Nagarjuna Sagar dam, where, he said, water levels have touched rock bottom due to a shortage of inflows.
He demanded that the Central government set up a National laboratory in Nalgonda district to test the percentage of flourine in the water, and to contain the problem. He also demanded that the government complete the Sriram Sagar Project to solve the drinking water needs of Telangana districts. (INN)
