TRS, Congress Clash at Kaleswaram Public Hearing
Congress and TRS activists lifted chairs and attacked each other, resulting in 200 Congress activists along with ex-minister Sridhar Babu being arrested.
The police arrested former minister D Sridhar Babu and Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) general secretary Venugopal when they questioned the officials who conducted a referendum on the Kaleswaram project at Peddapally on Wednesday.
The police also arrested 200 Congress activists along with Sridhar Babu and shifted them to the local police station.
TRS activists obstructed the Congress activists when they were going to attend the referendum on the Kaleswaram project, leading to an argument between the two parties' activists. In the referendum itself, the Congress and TRS activists lifted chairs and attacked each other. This resulted in the arrests.
The referendum was held at Reddy Function Hall in Raghavapur, Peddapally.
Tension also prevailed in the referendum on the project held at Yadadri. The Collector Anitha Ramachandran assured the participants that the referendums would be conducted in their own villages.
