Minister for Tribal Welfare Satyavathi Rathod faced an embarrassing situation when activists of her own party, the TRS, obstructed her convoy in Mulugu district today.
The TRS' SC Cell members gheraoed Rathod at the Gattamma temple in Mulugu twon, alleging that the beneficiaries for the Dalit Bandhu scheme were not being selected in a transparent manner.
They also alleged that TRS workers were not being selected for Dalit Bandhu, and that only followers of Congress MLA Danasari Anasuya alias Seethakka were benefitting under the scheme.
The SC Cell leaders said that they had been working relentlessly for the growth of the party in the Mulugu Assembly constituency, but that the minister was not taking their requests into consideration while selecting the beneficiaries of the Dalit Bandhu scheme.
Responding to them, Rathod promised that she would look into their problems and would also bring them to the notice of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
Later, the police used force and dispersed the agitating mob to clear the road for vehicular movement.
